Just a thought from this morning..

“...All ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:” (Haggai 2:4)

"Faith is the living power that presses through every barrier, overrides all obstacles, and plants its banner in the heart of the enemy's camp." (Sons and Daughters of God p. 202)

"'How precious...."

“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:

if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”
(Psalms 139:1-18 KJV)

1 Chronicles 16:29

I just wanted to share a few thoughts that I had on 1 Chronicles 16:29. I'm sure that I'll ever be learning more and my understanding of this verse will ever be expanding, but, these are just a few thoughts that I had right now.

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” (1Ch 16:29)

This verse lists three things
  • Give glory

  • Come before Him with an offering

  • Worship in the beauty of holiness

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” (Ps 115:1) God has every reason to receive glory by my praise, my thanksgiving, my honor, my reverence and my love. God has done so much for me and He deserves all the glory that I can give to Him.

I believe the greatest offering I can give to God as in the words of Frances R. Havergal

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.....
Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.”

Beauty of Holiness, as one of my favorite authors put it is christian cheerfulness and a meek and quiet spirit but also as Sean mentioned, it's purity. I think he summed it up really well. If I we are pure from the things that defile the soul, wouldn't we have a meek and quiet spirit? Wouldn't we have christian cheerfulness? Wouldn't we have love one for another and for God? Isn't purity next to holiness?

Beauty of Holiness

“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” (1Chronicles 16:29)

I have pondered this verse off and on for a long, long time. Beauty of holiness, what is it? What does this verse mean to you? I would love to hear your thoughts and then perhaps I'll share mine. :-)
